About Me

Hi there, I'm Marika (pronounced Ma-Ree-Ka) which as you can probably guess, means I have never experienced finding my name on a magnet in a gift shop.  I am also a first-time blogger! Unless you count my AIM profile from 2002 filled with angsty song lyrics and unrequited love quotes, which I don't so here we go!

​In a nutshell I am a loud, independent and hilarious weirdo in my 30s, married but kid-less (see blog post).  I am happiest traveling, laughing with my mom and sisters or hiking with my husband. I adore animals but have no pets due to my husband’s allergies to anything cute and fluffy, though he too is a closeted animal lover.  I am a total book nerd and can’t go to sleep without reading a few pages. I am usually on a diet and complain the whole time but at least I keep trying. I have a fear of running out of time before I get to do all I want to do. Cheese is my favorite food.

I know I am just one sheep in a herd of bloggers covering anything and everything you can think of from DIY beauty products to Ugly Renaissance Babies (it’s a real thing). So instead of pigeonholing myself into a category, I figured I’d just start with a variety of things I am passionate about, throw it out into the void and see what happens. Thanks for reading!
